Let’s Be Real

Being a mom is not all roses and sunshine.  In fact, many days it’s weeds and clouds (maybe add in a thunderstorm too).

Moms who say their kids are perfect and that each day is such a gift and then the clouds part and the sun shines through and you can faintly hear a choir singing hallelujah.

THEY ARE LYING!

Don’t get me wrong, the good days definitely outnumber the bad, but I have news for this mom with perfect children who never fight - I’m calling you out.  There is no way on God’s green earth your children never fight, never talk back, and I’m here to tell you that reasoning with a child is just not done.....well.  Tears are shed, begging happens, bribing, and when it gets to the point you can’t take it anymore you make a promise that you will soon forget in the morning, but your kids will not.  Take this as a warning - don’t make promises you won’t remember because they will ALWAYS remember.

Today, is one of those days - I can’t wait for school to start and if they fight over one more toy that they have the EXACT SAME ONE - I might just flee.

I’m not kidding, my older two daughters have the exact same Minnie Mouse, but according to my 5 year old, hers is taller and her sister took it so they have to switch - I mean I can’t make this stuff up. Even when you get the measuring tape out and show them they are the exact same height you are still called a liar.

Seriously, where did I go wrong?  I mean it was bed time when this revelation occurred and neither could go to sleep until it was resolved because bedtime is when everything happens.

And after the children go sleep you will reminisce on the day and remember when they said “I love you mom,” or “I can help with baby.”  “You’re the best mom in the whole world”. Yes, these moments are what make having kids is all about, because when it’s all said and done I will take every fight, every hair pulling experience over not having my beautiful children in my life.  I will take every “I’m sorry mom for hitting my sister,” and “I’m sorry for not listening” over not having these blessings in my life.  Then you will wish upon all hope that one of them wakes up to come cuddle with you in the middle of the night because you realize you miss them and you can’t wait for tomorrow when they will fight over a paw patrol coloring book.
